These celebrations, which take place throughout various towns in Menorca during the summer, are a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the essence of the island.

This tradition, which dates back to the 14th century, is closely related to horses. The riders, known as caixers, ride magnificent horses and dress in black and white. They head to the town square from different streets in the town.
Once there, the caixers pass through the crowd making their horses jump to the rhythm of a jota, a very popular music on the island, played by a cobla. The bustle and music encourage the horses to jump, creating an exciting spectacle.
The festivities of San Juan “Sant Joan” in Ciudadela begin with the “day of be” on June 15 and 16, with the first “drum knock,” and end in September after making a route throughout the island.
The celebrations reach their peak on June 23 and 24 with the traditional “Jaleos” and the “Caragol des Born”.
