La Vetlla des Be is an emblematic vigil in Ciutadella that opens the Sant Joan celebrations every year. During Saturday night, a white lamb is carefully cared for, prepared by the family of s'homo des Be, in the “cotxeria” of the caixer pagès. At dawn on Sunday, the homo des Be, barefoot and dressed in skins and symbols, will carry the animal on his shoulders and, accompanied by the fabioler and the entourage, will make visits to more than a hundred houses, playing dol in memory and the festive announcement with drum and flabiol. This tradition, anchored in the heart of Menorca, unites community, emotion and symbolism in a rite that transcends the passage of time and renews the festive essence of the island every year.
