Beata procession

Passeig des Pouàs, 23, 07450 Santa Margalida, Balearic Islands

Sunday, September 1, 2024

The Beata procession in Santa Margarita It is a tradition deeply rooted in Mallorca. Every first Sunday in September, the town is filled with fervor and excitement as residents and visitors come together to celebrate this unique procession. The Blessed, also known as Saint Catherine Thomàs, was beatified in 1792 and continues to be venerated on the island.

During the procession, floats parade representing different scenes from the saint's life. The sound of Sister Tomasseta's verses, the tinkling of the picarols and the dry noise of the gerres stamped on the ground by the mischievous and provocative 'dimonis' fill the air. After two long years of absence, Santa Margalida vibrates again with this celebration, which this year celebrates 330 years of history. The devotion that the procession continues to raise among residents of different generations ensures that this unique tradition has a bright future. 🌟🙏
