Festivities of Sant Antoni Abbot

Plaza de la Constitución, 1, 07400 Alcúdia, Balearic Islands, Spain

Saturday, 17 de January de 2026

The festival of Sant Antoni in Alcúdia is celebrated every January with the lighting of bonfires and the departure of the demons from the Town Hall on the 16th. On the 17th, the traditional Beneïdes of animals take place on the esplanade of the church of Sant Jaume. Sant Antoni is the patron saint of animals and protector of the countryside, crops and rural crafts. The festival has pagan roots linked to fire, fertility and light, with rituals that are still maintained today thanks to the involvement of local associations and the collaboration of the City Council.
